Hi everyone,
I took my boat to a local mechanic after some sporadic missing issues on all cylinders. He said that the charge coils test barely within OEM specs but he said they are very weak. He cleaned up the sensors and put different spark plugs in and said it would help. Today, I took it out to the lake and anything over an idle it would start missing and coughing and then surge and do that over and over. In gear it had no power and was missing something fierce.
How much would I be looking at for charge coils for cost new or used?
Also he discovered that some previous owner must have blown a rod through the block on the bottom cylinder and patched it up well, he didn't notice til working on it for a few hours. Should I even bother trying to fix this or try to find a parts motor or replacement motor? I did do a lot of fixing electrically and gaskets last summer and it did run very well. Compression test was 127, 120, and 123 from top to bottom.
