This is going to sound really stupid, but I wanted to ask anyway (and hopefully when I walk back outside I will find that I was off and not the engine!)

I have been battling a fuel pump issue, went to hook everything back up and retime the engine - All of a sudden #1 is sparking exactly 180 degree off of TDC! I did find that the nut holding the wire on the #1 coil side from the switch box had fallen off but the wire iself was still holding to the stud by friction.

Could that be the problem? What else would cause a 180 degree switch in one week other than ME!!

Thanks

Are you sure you plug wires are run correctly? Did you disconnect the coils while working on your fuel pump?

Definitely my problem - I think in the IT business they call it an "ID 10 T" error. Around home, we just call it a brain fart...

...it wasn't the idle stop that I had the throttle lever against, it was the max spark stop! Duh!! Which normally wouldn't be a problem - but I had bottomed out the primary pick up screw to check some wire clearances and never put it back!!

Now, back to our regularly scheduled fuel pump battle...
