'76 85HP Evinrude Shaking around 2500 RPM

I have a 1976 85HP Evinrude that has recently been rebuilt. Currently it has about 10 hours on it. This past weekend I noticed for the first time that around 2500 RPMs it begins to shake and chatter, almost like it isn't in gear. I can run it fine at a lower RPM or any higher than about 3000 with no problem. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

have you timed it? Rebuilt carbs?It has midrange jets.

Haven't timed it, but have rebuilt carbs. What is the significance of mid range jets?
