Re: 76 chrysler 70hp where to find parts
If you are near the water, look in all the marinas for junk engines. You need to be persistent and keep asking " Do you have any old, junk Chryslers" Some get P.O. but others are happy to get rid of them. It is typically cheaper to buy a whole junk engine than a lower. Look for ANY Chrysler 70-140 from early 1960s to (I think )1978. You are looking for a two piece lower unit. Earlier years looked different than later but the bolt pattern was all the same and they will interchange. Later years were a little stronger, more streamlined, and looked a little better though so if it were me, I would try for one of them.
You will not be able to buy seals and bearings at marinas, but MOST are standard and still available. Drive shaft seal is no longer available through bearing supply houses so you would best contact Franzmarine.com for that particular one.
I have some various parts, so if you don't need a whole lower, send me a Private Message.
If it just a broken skeg, find a good welder to weld on a new one. --about 100 bucks.
