Hi: I am trying to revive an old 75HP chrysler. Got tilt/trim motor to run, but it will not tilt after trim is all the way out. Motor runs, but no action relative to the tilt function--trim appears to work well. 3 wire unit. What should I try next??? What type of oil is recommended?

what kind of oil does it take? i am having the same kind of problem, even when the battery is fully charged it acts kind of slugish, and it also does not stay up for that long i left it for a week then went back to my parents house to winterize it and it was back to fully down....it is not leaking any fluid, but could it be low on fluid? or air in the lines? i unscrewed the cap and a bunch of air came out....how would i purge the lines of air if it was low and to check for air in lines? thanks will have pics up wednesday

you should always block the engine up when storing for more than a few hours and ALWAYS when towing. You will extend life of system by taking pressure off of seals and you will extend the life of your prop by not plowing the parking lot.

I would put ISO32 hydraulic oil in a 1976. You could also use non detergent motor oil. ND=non detergent. Over time detergent oil will clean the orings out from inside your system. That's not good.

sluggish operation could be anything. However, on a 1976 my first suspect would be oil or water inside the motor.
