'76 evinrude 115 lower end busted??

was out at lake and apparently hit a rock- didn't notice but went to take it on the lake again and it would not go into gear- forward or reverse. Then notivced that prop was gouged pretty good. Prop spins freely and linkage looks good.<br /><br />Any idea where I need to start- can't seem to find a manual for this motor I want to fix it myself if I can - thanks<br /><br />roger

CHANGE- linkage may be the problem- now that it's in my garage it goes in gear but not out.<br /><br />Prop is still fubar. Anyone damage a prop without noticing- no alcohol involved???

never mind- screw came off linkage. Big time relief and some embarrasement as I got towed across the lake.
