Hey guys,
Had a quick question... Does anyone know a good starting point for where the throttle cable should be set at on the motor when hooking it up? I know its adjustable, but Im not sure where to begin. I just hooked the controls and motor up on my resto project and it feels way too tight when I lift the high idle lever. And it feels like there isnt enough movement when I push the throttle down???? Just a good starting point as to where the distributor should be sitting at rest/idle or something. Thanks!

I like to work things backwards......

Hook up the throttle so when the lever is at WOT (wide open throttle) the throttle plates are 100% open.

Once it is hooked like that the rest of the system should be right in place.

Bob has given incorrect advice. sorry Bob.

Set the control to neutral. Adjust the throttle cable to push the throttle closed. Now adjust the cable barrel a bit more to add some preload. This will give you a good feel when it goes into neutral and is specified by the OEM Service Manual.
