I am told this engine is a vega Iron Duke. Maybe it is maybe not. I don't know. the model number is 990234 M if that helps. Anyway, if it is a vega 4 cyl and I need a starter motor for it can I get a starter motor from like Auto Zone for a 76 chevy Vega 4 cyl for my 4 cyl i/o? It is a heck of alot cheaper.

It is not the iron duke as most believe but its just as good if not better.
Never used in a Vega either !
Gm 2.5 liter.

No use the marine version it's spark proof. Do not use the car version.

^^^ Yep, get the marine starter.

If you were rebuilding the engine you could save a few bucks by using some automotive internals, but almost all of the external parts need to be marine rated for safety, longevity and good performance.
