Motor runs great. Outdrive when disconnected from shifter runs forward and reverse. The problem is twofold 1. When outdrive is connected to shifter reverse doesn't work and 2. When shifter engages forward drive the starter engages and sticks and only will turn off when the battery is disconnected

oops! wrote a whole piece and just noticed you have an electric shift. Hopefully someone will weigh in here. I converted my '75 electric shift to a hydro-mechanical 800 back in '79.

Definetly an electrical problem maybe in the cable from the throttle box back. Give the specs of the engine and I'll see if yiur diagram is in my book.

I iwll get you some specs tommorow please check back, it's my brothers boat. I think it is the larger of the two stock ford engines. The only thing we have done electrically since we got it was install a new ignition. Thanks in advance for any help
