76 OMC water pump crack

1976 OMC has a crack in the upper case where the water pump goes, so it sucks air. What repair is sucsessful please?? WELDING?? JB WELD???

Are you talking about the gear case or water pump housing? A good close up Pict. would help along with the model number of your engine.

If you're talking about the water pump housing, just replace it.

I'm talking about the upper case where the water pump housing and drive gear sits into. They call it the upper case i beleive, has a slight crack in the wall but not all the way through. Marine shop sayes; Needs new case a couple of grand and more;
1976 Crestliner 180-hp with OMC in/out, Thanks techies, i really appreciate the help.
