I just went and looked at a boat last night that has a 77 175 evinrude on it and the cylinders checked cold at 30-40 psi that seemed way too low to run to me so i used another gauge same readings. It also had one cyl in the middle on the left side looking at the heads on the boat that i could get no reading on but it would blow my finger out of the hole? Any way my questin is would it be worth rebuilding? He choked it and it started up and ran it did pop once when it fired on the choke setting i figured that was the dead cyl fuel. Anyway I dont know a whole lot about these motors. Any guestimates on cost of a rebuild of this nature and what all would i need to replace? The motor is on an 89 boat which would be worth twice the asking price if the motor was good.
