77 25 hp evinrude leak

there is black oil that leaks from where the lower unit connects to the mid-housing and the little hole on the back of the lower unit above the prop. it has no smell and the exhaust hole on the bottom rear of motor. Does anyone know what it might be.

Hi tdr.....this is just unburnt oil migrating down from the exhuast cavity. Nothin' to worry about. Just as long as it's black and goopy and you have found no water in the lower unit. Just keep a pad under it to lessen the mess.
