Re: 77 25 hp evinrude linkage
Hey tdr....I'll make an attempt to explain it to ya' but you really should have the service manual.

First, looking straight at the front of the motor, look over the carb and to the rear and you will see a rod sticking up with a roller on it. Small roller. This is the cam follower roller.

In back of it is a cam coming out from under the flyfwheel. This is the cam. Look on the cam, to the right of the cam edge for a timing mark. There may be two.

When the cam folloer roller is on the mark (if one) or centered between (if two), the throttle plates should just start opening....just a smig.

To adjust, look on the left side of the carb at the throttle plate shaft. You will see two half moon looking flat plates connected with a screw. The outside plate will have a curved slot.

To adjust the cam to cam follower roller, losen the screw on the outside plate and adjust as needed till you get the cam foller on the mark or between, and the throttle plate is just starting to move.

This is all you need to do. High end timing is fixed so you don't need to worry about it.

Hope we've helped and do get a manual. It'll help.
