Hi Tdr9499<br /><br />It does not. The thermostat sits in a grommet and is held in place by a spring. I think it acts like a pressure relief valve in itselves. Did you get the grommet and spring in place as they were supposed to ? Another thing to check is the deflectors, the small rubberhose like pieces, held in place by small castings, between sleeve and outher block. They must be there to route water correctly. At last you could have a week pump but a fair telltale stream as this requires very little flow, rare though. the water to the telltale is taken from start of exhaust jacket, first place water enters motor, it will be cold or just a little warm. Be aware, the right head temperature will let you rest your hand on cylinderhead for 2-5 seconds without getting burned, but usually not longer. You can buy a meltstick that will let you figure its right temperature.
