77 25 hp evinrude running hot

replaced impellor anf thermostat but keeps running hot. is there any way to inspect the plastic gromett under the power head without removing it thanks for any input

It could very well be your water pump if you did not change the impellor plate, and pump housing.

You can drop the lower unit again and try blowing air up the water tube(s).If it is definetly blocked,yes you have a blockage somewhere.Unfortunately if SOME air goes thru,it proves nothing because air will go past a partial blockage easier than water.<br /> We usually pull the powerhead and cylinder head as well as exhaust cover,follow water passages,and clean all.DHP

I had a water circulation prob with my 4hp evinrude.. run in the salt chuck lots, I ran it in a barrel with lots of CLR.... completly cured it...It must have cleaned out the water jacket in the powerhead.......
