'77 35 johnson no spark

i have no spark in either plug on my engine. It ran just fine yesterday no problems at all. I went to start it tonight and it fired over, ran for a second then died...after that i tried restarting and it just cranks and cranks, but no fire. Any ideas? I pulled the plugs and i didn't see a spark.

hey tashadaddy...do you know exactly what kind of testers i will need to perform those tests? I am a rookie at all this. I did however get step one done on your list. I was able to disconnect the black/yellow wire...engine still would not start. I am trying to go down the list, but I have NO IDEA what i need?? Thanks
