I have 1977 55hp Johnson 2 cyl and I was wondering if water should be coming out of somewhere when it is running. Right now I dont see any coming out except from around the flusher.

Do you have a "pee hole" located on the backside or the sides of the motor? The water should be coming out there. Before you answer, does the motor overheat?

If it doesn't overheat, you could just have something obstructing the "pee hole" on the backside of your motor. A thin piece of wire inserted into the pee hole should clear out the obstruction and this really works when the motor is running. I get Sargasum weed in my pee hole ALL the time when I go Dolphin fishing and I have a piece of leader wire on my boat specifically made for clearing out the pee hole.

If you find the pee hole on the back of your motor and it ISN'T obstructed, you might need a water pump!

There's no tell-tale on a '77. But, you should see a little water spitting out of the two relief holes in the back once it warms up. It should also be coming out the prop. Depending on how well the exhaust flows sometimes very little water comes out those reliefs on the muffs. If you put your hand over the prop vent and provide a little back pressure you'll see a little more water spit out the relief holes.
