77 75hp Where does the end go ???

Happen to notice I have a spring on the carb linkage that seems to be out of place. Been searching the internet looking for a pic (unsuccessfully)

Anyone have an idea?

Mine doesn't go anywhere. It pushes up against the carb shaft fitting at WOT, not sure what it supposed to do, but that is what mine looks like so if its supposed to go somewhere, mines not there either. Personally, I really think it is OK right where it is. Thats just IMO though.
I'll look in my manual when I get a chance if there is not some replay from a knowledgeable person from this vast pool of experts on this forum.

Hey, I have a 1976 75 hp stinger that I took the carbs off to clean and now I cant figure out how this spring goes? I dont know if this fella ever got his right? From his pic, looks like maybe it just wraps around the linkage rod? If someone has a pic of this installed properly that would be cool! Thanks mark

That is a choke override spring. Its purpose is to apply pressure on the choke butterfly rod to prevent the choke from flapping shut when the engine is underway.

Purchase a new one as yours is bent out of shape.
