Noticed the other day after having some fun out at the local lake that I had some black oil running down from under the mid housing. Wasn't very much but my question is this how long can I run my motor with this condition before I cause any damage to the power head or what kind of ill affects does this have to the motor? I know I'm going to have to pull the power head to fix it just like to postpone as long as possible. Motor ran great yesterday when I took the family tubing going to the lake next week for vacation don't realy need any problems while were there. Thank for the help best site I know of to keep your boat in top shape.

P.S. any way to confirm its the base gasket?

no way to predict, usually you get exhaust fumes, up into the cowl, causing stalling problems, due to lack of Oxygen. you sure you don't have a fuel leak, or a carb running over.

I do have a small fuel leak at the bowl gaskets just didn't think it could reach that far back with as little as seems to be coming from them. the oil is coming down on the port side just above the relief port. Going to rebuild the carbs this off season to take of the leak maybe I need to rethink this and do after vacation. see if it solves my problem.thanks for your in put TSdaddy.
