Hey guys, been awhile since I've been on. Been slaying some other dragons for awhile. On to the juicy bits ...

'85 HP overheat problem. Traced it down to a bad vernatherm. Looking at the plastic disk that sits on top of the spring and is pushed by the vernatherm (part #0308070) There's either a hole, or indentation in it just off of center. Looks about the same size as the vernatherm pin. I'm wondering if that's supposed to be there, or if the pin melted a hole in it, and it needs replacing.

Anyone?

Bueller?

The hole in the center of that plastic valve is to keep it centered via the vernatherm pin.

The slot leading off to the edge of the plastic valve belongs there and is a water bypass.

Thanks Joe. I was hoping that was the answer.

Put it all in, and all is well. Once I pushed the valve around a little, I could see the hole was centered (it was off-center when I pulled it all apart). Thanks for saving me a trip to sea-way to see what it _should_ look like.
