In my last post it was pointed out my fuel pump may not be working right. I took it apart and didn't find any torn/worn rubber pieces, but I'm thinking the plates may not be in the right places.

Any website showing how it goes back together?

http://www.pugetsoundanglers.org/Fishing Info/Johnson 9.9_15.htm

This site has some very good information on the old jonnyrudes. Dig around it and you might find something to help out. This guy knows a lot about the old engines.
The lastime I worked on my1976 9.9hp I went to the library and checked out a book, but doubt if they would have anything that detailed, but might be worth a shot.

I don't know if this will help at all...

For older mercs, there is a great mercury parts website (www.mercruiserparts.com) has really excellent exploded views of all the components of engines, including carbs, fuel pumps, electrical stuff - everything - along with parts lists. From what I've seen, it's the same info that the dealers' parts guys use on their microfiche or whatever they use to look up old and obscure parts. Goes back way beyond the 70s.

So, the only reason I mention this is that if there is a website around that has similar parts information for old johnnyrudes, with exploded views, I'll bet that might give you enough to figure out the fuel pump. Good luck and post back if you find something. I have an early 80s Johnson that might need that sort of attention some day (did I say "might", I meant "will")

Unfortunately the Puget site doesn't detail how each of the rubber layers and metal plates are supposed to be oriented.

Problem is there aren't any more Johnson/Evinrude dealers in the DC area except for one actually *in* DC, and fighting traffic for that is a real nightmare.
