Got this boat from a dealer in florida, didn't pay too much for it, but i definitely should have inspected it more before i bought it (didn't know that much about boats then), now i guess i'm gonna learn about boating from the ground up.
there's so much water in the foam, i'm wondering if this boat might have been flooded in katrina, either way it all needs to be replaced.
got some pics below, i'm looking for any tips or advice anyone might have along the way, i'm definitely an apprentice at boat building.
#1 notice the way the stringers run in the foam, just down the center instead of extending out all the way to both sides of the hull, is this normal for a v hull boat like this? should i extend them all the way out when i re-do it?
#2 in the second pic you can see an area of rot i originally noticed before checking the floor for water, i peeled away some of the rotted wood, and so far all i've found is foam behind it, does anyone know if the bows on these boats are solid foam or is there an open pocket in there that i need to get in to?
#3 and lastly does anyone have a good method of removing all this foam other than chiseling away little by little? i bought a little drywall saw i'm going to dull the end so i don't damage the hull and try cutting some away with that.
