i was wondering is the metal plate [ water pump] is supposed to be permatext to the plastic cover or the bottom of the lower unit? Also would like to know what is the easiest way to insert the key for the impellar would be? And is there an easier way to check if it stayed in place..... thanks mike http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=256210

You can put sealant on both sides of that, you want it to seal top and bottom.

With the key you just have to work it on, I usually tap the bronze on the impeller lightly with a small hammer and screw driver, it helps to to get a little grease or oil in the keyway.

I will put some grease on the imellr blades to just in case it doesn't take, you don't smoke the new part then.

i insert the key into the shaft, then slide the impeller down over the key. now i take the housing side it down to the impeller, now twist the housing, and it will slide right down, then align the screw holes.
