Hello all. I just picked up a 17' Glastron bowrider its a 77 outboard model. THe floor is shot as well as the transom. Has anyone ever put in a transom on one of these boats? any tips on how I can do it and be able to make it stronger than what it was originally? Any tips and or advice on doing floor and stringers would be helpfull as well.

Better off going over to the restoration forum. I can tell you it is a difficult or time consuming job but it is easier to do if you remove the rub rails and split the top from the hull.

Agreed that the cap needs to come off to do the transom. Remove the 12 bolts in the front, two big screws in the floor of the bow and the 100 or so screws in the rubrail. The bad news is that the spashwell is fiberglassed to the upper part of the transom. If the transom is really rotted badly then it will be easy to remove. If, not then you are have to separate it with a chisel, pry bar etc. Start a thread in the restoration section with lots a pictures and the pros will be along shortly with some helpful advice.
