Re: 77(I think) Glastron, decent boat?

Aqualift is correct. I have a '76 model of the same boat with a 302 Ford/Mercruiser power package. Comfortable for 6 people, ok with 8. Runs in the upper 40's and has a good ride. They have good build quality for their age, but you have to check the wood stringers and transom carefully as with any other boat. I added some smart tabs to mine and it now turns like it is on rails. I built a 7' ski pylon and kneeboarded behind ours for a while yesterday.

Feel free to ask any questions. I've had mine for 7 years and have been through almost every corner of it and have racked up a bunch of fun hours in it.

I will say, the most annoying thing on the boat is the bow rail that gives it so much character. It is a pain to step over. In '78 or '79 they shortened them.

JasonB, I know this is an old post but if your still there, my 77 Glastron with a 140 Johnny used to get about 37mph and lately seems to struggle with 25mph. Had the motor rebuilt a while back and speed is decreasing. Anyone?

If the motor still runs strong you prob. deal with water under the floor.
If the original floatation foam is still in it can be waterclogged and wont drain out.
When replacing the stringers, floor and transom in my 16' carlson I scooped at least 80+lbs of soaked foam out of it.

Bumping this old thread because its the only topic on my boat. I have a '79 Searider with an '89 Johnson 150 and it pushes the boat to 48mph GPS confirmed. Have no complaints about the boat at all, don't hesitate to pick one in decent condition up!
