Ok, i think I have traced my issue of not having reverse to my nuteral saftey switch in the remote control.
I have a 1977 Cobalt 235 horse with a Stinger outdrive. I can put it in both forward and reverse with the key on and I get voltage back to the lower unit for each wire. I had thought that it may be the reverse insded the lower unit but with further tracing and tinkering. (and hopeing that it is not in the lower unit) I took the remote control apart to see what was in there. I pulled the switch out that sends the signal with the little thumb on it that shifts the gears and noticed that it clicks in and out forward, but does not "click" in and out of reverse. It only slides like there is somthing broke in there.
Question is,,,,,,,,
were do you find a replacement switch for these old OMC's or a control box.
