78 115 hp dies at low idel

motor ran fine saturday moring.went back down about 5 hours later to go back out ,started up but was missing at low idel ran about 5 seconds and died.started again choked it little missing went away,put back in neutral missing again and died.when i went to take boat out of water had to choke a little and put in forward fast.once going missing seamed to stop ran fine at full throttle.got to boat lanch slowed down started missng again,put in neutral and it died.HELP

what have you checked? spark, compression, anything?

My 78 140 hp did the same thing and when I would take off the hood it would run fine so I guessed it was not getting enough air. I dont know where it gets its air because the hood does not have any holes in it but now mine does, I drilled 3 big holes where you put your hand and now mine runs fine

well since you have gotten that far have cleaned the carb or has a rebuild been recent. sounds she like runs good all but idle. maybe you canrun your idle up 25-50 rpm and see if it was just set to low. good luck !!

Sounds to me like you need to clean your carb. Especially, the idle circuit capillaries under the plug. You can sometimes short-circuit the process by removing the idle jets (air or fuel) and spraying some carb cleaner through the passages. This is a cross-your-fingers technique though. Rebuild with chemical soaking and compressed air is the only sure-fire way to clean it all out.

i do not know when carbs were rebuilt or cleaned.now were do you fine a carb rebuild kit for a motor this old.have looked before with no luck.

You can get two 439076 carb kits from your Bombardier dealer.
