78 6hp runs then doesn't

I have a 1978 6hp Johnson 2-stroke. sometimes it will run great forever and the once in a while it'll start, run good then after about 2 minutes or so it will just die and will not start for at least ten minutes. I have a new fuel pump, good gas. Just can't figure it out. Any ideas?

You should try and determine weather it is a fuel or ign problem. Run it till it quits and quickly check the spark. If you have spark, pump the primer bulb and pull the choke and try and start it.
