what is the exact difference between a long shaft and short shaft?I can get a long shaft lower but need a short shift rod.how much to cut from the long rod to work.(I have a short driveshaft to change)thanks. ps Im giving up on the hydromechanical and going strictly to a mechanical.

A long shaft is refered to as a 20" model. A short shaft is refered to as a 15" model. So we're pretty sure youre refering to a long and an x-long which is 25". <br /><br />The difference in the shift rod will be 5". Just to double check, look in your service manual. They will list the shift rod height for both which needs to be set for reassembly.
