I have a 78 evinrude 25hp electric start outboard that i am having a little problem with only getting spark on my bottom cylinder. I first thought it was the coil so i changed it out but that didnt solve the problem so out of curiousity i flipped the wires coming out of the brain box and the problem only switched to the other cylinder. I got to talking to some ppl and they said it could be the brain box (power pack) but before i run out and buy it i wanted to findout if there was a way to test it. and if there is a possibility that it could be something else? any info is greatly appriciated! thanks

You can test the powerpack with a meter and a DVA. Look for a break in the wire just using a meter set to continuity. If there is no break then chances are the pack is bad.

As I explained in the other thread you started, it has to be the power pack or coil. (ok, or a busted wire). You have eliminated the coil as the cause. So it has to be the power pack. (ok, or a busted wire). You know the timer sensor is good or it wouldn't fire the one cylinder. You know the kill circuit is good or it wouldn't have any fire at all. Gotta be the power pack. Or wire.
