I know the topic of a motor has been done many times infact I searched and found something tha may help but dont think so. Heres the issue which is long. We boat a boat used had no motor, found one with and bought that for the motor, throttles etc. This past week we removed the engine, out it on the boat we want. pulled throttle cables and steering and installed that. saturday I spent half a day searching for everything needed to get it running such as fuel tank, fittings, gas hose with pump etc etc. Sunday i decided to see if it would start so i went an got fuel. Brought home hoked everything up tried to start it and it didnt start.

My brother and I checked, Spark, the starter engages and rotates the flywheel and a great speed. We also had a problem that the prop was spinning when we tried to start it found out the throttle cables werent going into neutral fxed that. The issue at hand is it isnt starting, the pump in the line isnt staying hard its always soft. I dont know if this is due to the motor or due to me messing up the installation of the fittings to the gas tank. The tank is removable so you can go and get fuel without taking the boat. should I have used some type of threading tape between the fuel tank and the evinrude fittings?

1st did you mix the fuel 50/1 with tcw3 outboard motor oil? the bulb has an ARROW on it that has to point toward the engine. the bulb not getting hard tells me the carb float needle valve is not closing, or the bulb is backwards. is there gas running out of the carbs. answer these and we will go further.

yes sir the gas is mixed 50/1. The bulbs arrow is pointed towards the engine and there is no gas coming from the carbs

Is there suppose to be a fitting on the fuel hose that fits onto the nipple on the gas pump?

there is , but you can run direct as you are. it just save having to re run the hose everytime you fill up. or with using multiple tanks. take a small nail and insert into the gas line engine connector, with the hose facing away from our face, pump the bulb, and see it it's pumping gas. then remove the in line on the carb and pump. if you have gas there, the carb float needle valve is stuck closed, rebuild the carbs, clean, use a new recuild kit.

Havent tested the bulb but I noticed that the gas that came out of the pump was like tarnish maybe I should squirt some good gas in her.

Use pre mix gas(50-1) in a spray bottle and spray in the carb throat. If it starts start checking Pump and carbs.

I tested the bulb and made sure it worked gas came out and the bulb finally got pressure and gas flowed out of the line. So now I'm thinking the pump is bad or needs a rebuilt because the carbs were rebuilt last yr we have the paper work from the previous owner.

OK sprayed some Evinrude and Johnson cleaner in the arbs it pops off then dies. We noticed its trying to suck the gas back into the tank. We took the fuel filter off but got to dark to get the hose reconnected for fuel line. Any ideas why it maybe sucking he fuel backwards? All lines are hooked up right.
