'78 Johnson 35 Possible Carb Problems?

My 1978 Johnson 35 is having some problems. When cold, it starts well under choke, and it will run without choke very quickly. When accelerating, sometimes there is significant hesitation. When warm (after at least 15 minutes) the motor WILL NOT accelerate, it simply stalls if you try to open the throttle. In fact, the motor will barely run at all, unless choked, when it runs a little. We recently replaced the fuel pump, and the plugs are new as well. I am thinking that the problem is carb related. What are your thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

I would check the compression and if thats OK, I would get into the carbs and clean and rebuild them. Could also be an electrical failure of a component when it gets hot. Try heating the powerpack at home on the muffs or in a barrel while running with a hair dryer real close and see what happens. Make sure the motor is not overheating, too..

Thanks for replying. I had the local marine shop test out compression, and its 110 on both cylinders. I'll try the carbs next. And the motor runs perfectly in neutral, it responds to throttle, only in gear does it have these problems.
