78 mercury 1150 outboard motor spark problem

I have a 1978 Mercury 1150 115hp outboard motor 6cyl. I have good compression on all 6 cylinders but i can not get it to start. It turns over and all but there seems to be no spark. Does anyone have any ideas of what it might be? thanks shaun

Either the switchbox, (there is a trouble shoot proceedure on this site if you search), or: once the switch box has been eliminated: the triger in the distributor.

Usually it is the triger as the switchboxes are very durable.

Thank you. I will be picking the boat up next weekend i will have to look at the switchbox and the triger on the dist.
