78 mercury 80 hp

[ picked up a real nice older boat 79 Rinker built but the former owner told me one day the engine just died I pulled off the cover and found 4 broken and rotten wires, thinking I could just solider new wires on its an easy fix not, the wires are rotted all the way to the trigger and the stator the problem my serial number id 5009070 nothing comes up for it and I want to get the right parts on the motor says 78 m-800 any help would mean alot

Serial # shows 78. iboats probably has parts for it. If I was posting from my computer I could probably get more info, but a phone is just bloody small of s screen to do anything on

Ignition parts and wiring harness should be readily available for that motor. Look up the part number on a site like the crowley marine web site and then search for the part numbers.
