my 79 55hp shifted fine in forward and reverse then one time I tried going in reverse and it wouldn't. I adjusted the cable and could get it to go into forward and reverse but just barely. I mean, it would clunk into gear.
I took the shift cable off and shifted buy hand and it went into all gears. can there be something wrong with the cable or controller? any suggestions?
