79-80 merc weak telltale-Pump?

I installed a new pump I have a week telltale stream. took to motor in the tech said the pump was installed right and was working fine.<br /><br />Got home and started it up and it still had a week stream, but does not seem to get hot.<br />What to do?<br /><br />Also motor runs well and starts ok but will not run at idle.<br /><br />Thanks<br />Jim

Sometimes the stream just isn't strong. There could also be a bit of junk in the orifice not allowing total flow. You can rod it out with a piece of wire. The true test is to get it running and touch any part of the engine, especially around the spark plug area or the sides of the head. You should be able to touch it comfortably, it should not scald you.
