just bought a starcraft fishing boat, has johnson 35hp electric start, not tiller, long shaft. i thought exhaust was thru prop, but has two holes in front of center leg section, exhaust is coming out here. i'm in a barrel of water in back yard, is this correct or do i have a problem ?? runs great, no other problems that i can see, want to go to the lake, thought maybe i'd ask this question first...... thanks, elmo

Those two holes, in front of mid section, at motor mount height, should drain excessive cooling water, not exhaust. Drop lower unit and take look up there, while you change impeller, if it wasnt just done. The two upper holes in mid section, at the back, just below lower cowling, are iddle releif holes and will release exhaust mixed with cooling water, thats perfectly normal.

thanks G. Dane, was out today, runs great. exhaust is hitting the pivot of the mount as you described. but i'm confused, where does majority of the exhaust exit this motor, you said some with the water out the rear, saw that, is that the entire exhaust outlet ?? motor just had new lower unit installed, w/water pump..... was great to be on the lake again.... thanks.
