79 Johnson 4hp head bolt torque

I ran my 1979 Johnson 4 hp on my canoe for the first time this year. It blew out the head gasket and pumped water into the bottom cylinder and engine shut down. I paddled the canoe back.<br /><br />I have the gasket on order and I need to know what the head bolts are supposed to be torqued to?

Hi Dave <br /> That will be 60-84 in/lbs. Start in the center and work in a circular pattern. Take it in three steps, starting with 1/3 the value.
