Motor will start with fuel in carb but will not keep running. Leaving for holidays Friday, any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Well, here's one you might want to check....
I just got my 10hp, '56 Evinrude back from the shop. Same thing was happening to me.
They found a gasket in the carb that was broken and was letting the gas out. Boat would run for a while then quit.
It's running like a top now and it only cost me $15 for the kit (the guy is a friend of mine).
Good Luck :) !

If it continues to run when you pump the primer bulb you have a fuel pump problem. If it continues to run if you pull out the choke then you have a carb problem,or a blown head gasket,or faulty reeds, etc..How fresh is the fuel you are feeding this thing?

If you are going to use this Friday then listen to Hondon. Sounds like you have fuel problems. Your primer bulb could be bad, your fuel line could have an air leak, your fuel pump or carb could need rebuilding.
