79 OMC 3.0 - 140hp Temperature

I just installed new manifold and riser but it seems that when the engine running at 2000RPM the<br />temperature goes up to 170 deg. using water-hose.<br />The engine timing is okey, anything else that need<br />to be check. Your recommendations are highly appreciated. Thank you

How old is the impellar?? Even a warn impellar will cool an engine but not properly. If it over two years old change it. Not worth cooking a motor for not replacing the impellar.<br /><br />Bob

While 170 is hot,it may not be bad.Does it climb higher?Boat gauges are not noted for their accuracy.But with any overheat work,a new impeller is called for.<br />Also 2000 RPM on a hose is maybe pushing it some.Take it out for a spin.<br />DHP

DHP<br />Do you mean the impeller in the front of engine.<br />or the impeller at the upper gear box.
