Hello all, new member here. I have attempted to change my impeller on the 8.1 and the real physical obstacle for me was the fuel filter. When I removed it, the filter mount dripped constantly. I don't think I have a fuel shutoff valve that would minimize this. ARe there any tricks of the trade to prevent the dripping, like an incredibly short fuel filter to cap off the mount. With the fuel filter out of the way, I think I could get the pump housing off. Thanks for any tips.
Chris

Disconnect the Fuel Line..........

Maybe Lower the nose of the Trailer,.. If it's On 1......

Sometimes,.... When you're Wrench'n,....... You Have to remove abunch of Other Things, to get Where you want to Be.......
Just cause you can See it,.....Or Feel It,........ Doesn't Count........

In Other Words,...... Take the Whole Fuel Filter Assembley out of the Way........
Instead of Fighting it,... It's Only 2 More Bolts..... ;)

It may also not be coming from the tank, but bleading back down through the pumps and out of the fuel rails etc. But like Bondo says, pull the line from the tank and plug it. Basically the antisiphon valve should stop it, but I doubt the take is above the engine anyway.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Bondo, is the fuel booster pump also mounted behind the fuel filter assm on the same two bolts? If so can I disconnect the fuel lines from the filter mount and just leave the pump in place? When reconnecting the fuel filter lines back is there any thing that needs to be put on the threads or are they just compression fittings? Thanks again.

Chris

I think the fuel drip is coming back down out of the rails. Don, Is there a Schrader valve on the injection rail that I could open to speed up the drainage process. If I eliminate the fuel it shouldn't drip much.
