Hey guys, I’m trying to figure out how to connect my 8 hp kicker to work with the main steering. It’s a 1990 Evinrude 8hp tiller. I don’t see any way to fasten a steering rod/knuckle to the front of it. Wondering if there’s an aftermarket bracket available or wondering what you guys may have done in the past.

thanks in advance

Steering Adapter Kit Part number 0173972 from your local Evinrude dealer or call iboats to see if they can get you one through their OEM parts supplier.

If you mean an auxiliary/trolling motor connection to main motor steering, Panther (and others) make a connector kit that your could adapt.

Low buck kicker steering?

Hey guys, I just got a kicker set up next to my OB. The splashwell is pretty deep and I’d like to set it up to steer with my main motor. As using the tiller handle is s bit of a reach.

Ive seen the ez steer connectors but I worry they won’t have the travel required to not only lift the motor, but also tilt it all the way up to tilt lock as my kicker mount height won’t let my 1990 8hp Evinrude clear the water in high setting.

I dont want to break the bank as I plan on replacing both motors eventy and will probably go 9.9 hp 4S kicker with power tilt and remote throttle

I've installed them on the backs of the pans, fronts of the pans, anti-vent plates, between the carry handle ('50s/'60s) and a tiller handle, and probably some other arrangements I've forgotten. You would remove the quick-release link for the situations you describe.

Thanks guys. If it’s a simple disconnect, then I will be going front connect either with the bracket mentioned above or my own pan bracket. (Likely the latter if there’s room)
