Hello,

I was hoping someone could please help me. I have a 8hp Mercury kicker motor I bout used a few weeks ago. This motor came without the old switch box that was not working( not sure why it wasn’t included in purchase) but I have ordered a new one, installed it. I have spark, compression and the gas is hooked up, not sure how to tell if I’m getting fuel into the carb. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Pull the carb drain screw and see if gas comes out. If it doesn't, pull the carb fuel hose, work up the line until you figure out where the fuel flow stops.

Yes I have pulled the choke all way out. Put started fluid in and tried 6 drops of gas in spark plugs and nothing happens.

If you sprayed ether into the carb and she did not fire, you do not have any spark.

At this point a factory service manual is a good idea.
