I just purchased a 1989 80 HP Merc with oil injection (2 stroke). My previous motor did not have oil injection, therefore I have about 5 or 6 gallons of 50:1 fuel/oil mixture in my gas tank.
My question is: Can I use the remaining 50:1 fuel with the oil injected motor without damaging the motor, or do I need to syphon it out and start fresh? I'm sure it'll smoke like a chimney, but will it damage it?
Also, does anyone have any insight on the 2 stroke 1989 80 HP Merc with oil injection? Are there any known inherent problems with this motor? I've never had oil injection on an outboard. Any and all advice is much appreciated. Thanks.
