HI all, I'm in need some fuel filter experts, My engine runs great at all rpm except WOT after I switched from a CLEARVIEW fuel filter to a ATTWOOD water separating fuel filter. At WOT it runs for about a minute and then dies, it will start right back up and dies again at WOT only. Switched back to old clearview filter and it runs at WOT indefinatley. Fuel is good but is 10%ethanol blend, tank is 12 gal. portable and clean, fuel hose is alcohol resistant, hose connections are made on brass barbed fittings w/ s.s. hose clamps. The only thing I can think of is the filter doesn't flow enough fuel? I would like to keep the water seperator if at all possible

Sounds like you have it sorted, the water separating filter probably is too restrictive on the supply.

Maybe look into one designed for a higher HP engine.

No it should work, it worked on my 1981 johnson 115. I did crack the upper housing on the seperator while tightening one of the brass fittings to fix a leak. So now i'm on a clear view filter :(

thanks for the replys, but how does one know what filter flows enough fuel? the current attwood filter says it fits all 2 and 4 cycle engines.

Check the instructions on yours and see if there are any hp limits mentioned. Most water separating fuel filters have flow information in their instructions. For instance, Yamaha factory water separating fuel filters tell you what size engine you can use the filter kit on, (and they make some which will only go up to 115 hp.)
