A friend of mine asked me to look at his boat motor for him because it wasn't running. When we tried to prime the carbs the fuel would just pour out from the lower carb from the jets (I think they're called jets). Is this normal for this engine?
We ended up taking apart some things to see if we could get to the float and see if there was any junk that may be clogged up. After putting everything back together we went to hook up the jumper cables and it arc'd big time. Like when you hook up the negative to the positive and vise versa. The solenoid for the starter started to smoke a bit too. I can imagine its got a short somewhere... but is there a comon problem with these engines that cause it to short out? If we unhook the negative from the starter it doesn't short out... Any ideas???
