I picked up a used (cheap) boat recently and wanted to test everything before taking it to the water. I tried starting the motor for the first time today and it fired right up but I had no water coming out of the tell-tale so I shut it down right away.

While it was running I did have some water coming out of the ports that are circled in green. Should I test this again with a tub instead of the muffs. The muffs are single sided and were 5 bucks at wal-mart. It looked like most of the water was just spraying out around them.

Obviously, I'm not too familiar with this stuff so I'd like to be sure there is a problem before I go tearing things apart. The model/serial number is 6e9 411129. Thanks!

replace impeller, and try again. Tell tale is either plugged/ something in the circuit is plugged or it's not pumping enough water. Impellers are general maint and you don't know when it was done

Those ports are the exhaust cutouts so some water is getting in

Good call. Just pulled it out and several of the tips were broken off and the rubber was all jammed up at the bottom of the pump at the water inlets.

Be sure to double check your water tube just had this issue several pieces of old impeller jammed at the top of the water tube were causing very weak tell tale and no water to thermostat good luck.
