81 75hp johnson stinger help

my motor runs fine with the muffs on but when i took it out to test the motor it ran fine for a little bit. but then it had trouble idling, it would die throttling it forward (wide open and low speed), and it won't start.The carbs were rebuilt last year. I need help any suggestions?

muffs has no back pressure on the exhaust system. check your spark and compression, could be as simple as idle speed needs to be set faster, could be contaminated carb, clogged high speed jets. fuel pump, air leak in fuel line.

the gas is fresh and the motor was running when i had it in the water and how do you check compression, what is the normal pressure, and the fuel line is new

you need to borrow a screw in compression tester. directions in here > http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=299680
