Hi everyone.
I took my grandson out fishing this weekend. We were cruising to my favorite inlet to hit the stripers running about 3500rpm. I had to do a quick throttle down to avoid running down a fool on a jet ski and then throttled back up. As soon as I started to bring the power back up the engine started to slow down and would not come back above 2500 rpm. I shut it down and checked what I could in the middle of the bay and then called SeaTow. When I got the boat home I found water in the starboard lower cyl. I bought a new head gasket, removed the head and saw no obvious damage. Put a straight edge on the head it is flat but when I checked the block it has a slight highpoint between the upper and lower cyl. Also found that the top left bolt right below where the high point on the block is was stripped and repaired with some sort of epoxy. I had this powerhead rebuilt 2 years ago. Sould I tear the powerhead down and do a complete rebuild or can I possibly get away with machining the high spot on the block, tapping the stripped hole and re assembling the head?:
