Unbelievably frustrating!
I keep having problems with my "C" starboard side timerbase circuit. originally C had zero reading on resistance test. Replace timerbase and PP. Ran fine for about 50 miles (total) and now C resistance is increasing and is now out of acceptable range. Port side PP working fine and timerbase normal resistance (35). Don't want to move portside PP to see if problem moves cuz I don't want to damage a known good PP. Don't have a peak output tester. Some guy at Westmarine said I could use my multimeter. He said take out all the plugs. put red to brown from stator and black to ground and crank the engine and you should get a reading. Test all brown and brn/yell and they should be roughly the same....I got zero movement on the scale set to 50 volts DC (actually, checked all DC volt settings).
Been through a couple of PP's and 2 timerbases.
Does this sound like it could be the stator?
Thanks
